The WKND started in 2017 when three churches from the Tulsa Metro area got together to put on an event for their youth groups. The event was to be a weekend retreat where the three youth groups would come together for a time of worship and teaching but still have the autonomy to create their own weekend event, using the big group time as the foundation. This idea has continued to be the foundation of The WKND Conference over the years. The desire is that churches with many different dynamics and backgrounds can join together for the conference while still shaping elements of the weekend to be specific for each group. This includes, but is not limited to, schedule, cost, youth group specific elements, and so on. For this reason, only ministry leaders (youth pastors, lead sponsors, etc.) can register their group. The WKND usually takes place in February.
