"We Wait as God's Chosen People"

1. We are a Holy People (1 Peter 1:13-19)
13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
2. We are a Chosen People (1 Peter 2:1-5,9-10)
1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation--3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4 As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. . . . 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
3. Believers Preach the Word (2 Timothy4:2-5)
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- THINK OF YOUR LIFE BEFORE KNOWING CHRIST. HOW IS IT DIFFERENT?
OUR ETERNITY IS SECURE ONCE WE COME TO CHRIST, SO WHY DOES IT MATTER THAT WE LIVE HOLY LIVES - WHAT KEEPS YOU FROM DESIRING “THE PURE MILK OF THE WORDTHE PURE SPIRITUAL MILK” (V. 2)? WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WHEN YOU DON’T DESIRE TO BE IN GOD’S WORD? WHAT DOES IT REVEAL ABOUT GOD’S CHARACTER THAT HE CHOSE US TO BE HIS PEOPLE?
- WHAT ARE SOME EXCUSES WE MAKE FOR NOT LIVING GODLY LIVES?WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO KNOW JESUS? HOW SHOULD THIS CHANGE US?
